Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to you! To all the father's who are not able to be with their child or children today, I hope you understand you play an important role in your child's life.

For too many children, their father is not involved in their life. It is sad to hear how many children and adults who don't have a good relationship with their father.

Why is this? Why are father's struggling with being a good father to their children?

There are several reasons, and every father's situation is different. I know several men who are not involved in their children's life because the mother makes it very difficult, or impossible.

The unfortunate reality is, most courts will favor the mother and make it even more difficult for father's to have a relationship with their children.

This is the truth for far too many men, which leave a lot of children without their father in their life. This is truly unfortunate because men play a huge part in the well-being of a child's life now and in the future.

Just think of your own life. What kind of father did you have? The kind of father you had is impacting your health, mental well-being, and especially your relationships right now. Of course, we can choose to do things differently, but your father did make an impact, good or bad, in your life.

Father's play a huge role in their child's life because of the powerful influence a father has on his children.

On the topic of health, your lifestyle and behavior choices are influencing your child.

Childhood obesity is getting worse. According to a CNN article, "It's estimated that nearly one in five children and teens are obese. In the same article, it indicated,  "about 40% of adults are now considered obese.

Adults who are obese are more likely to have obese children. The reason is because the food choices the adult makes will be passed on to the child. Then the problem of obesity continues in the family.

Father's need and should take the lead to improve the health status of their children. Yes, there are things the government can do to help in eliminating chemicals into our environment, but father's can do a lot right now to improve the health of their children.

The best thing you can do is to be a healthy example for your child. Promote healthy foods and physical activity. Increase focus on social activities and less time on electronics.

Too many adults are replacing screen time over social interactions. I find it very sad when adults are more interested in Facebook and Instagram then they are with their children and what is going on in their life.

Another healthy habit is sleep. Sleep in vital to living a healthy lifestyle. Having adequate sleep allows your brain to detox and for your body to repair. Establishing and setting proper sleep time will provide you with more energy and the ability to think clearer and make better decisions.

Your lifestyle and behavior choices impact your child's life, for life. Perhaps considering being a positive healthy role model to your children by living a healthy and physically active lifestyle.
