Man's Greatest Opportunity During This Great Challenge
In the great challenges we face there are always opportunity. Opportunity to rise to the occasion and face the challenge head-on or tuck tail and be worse off than before.
The current situation we are all facing with the Coronavirus pandemic can provide us with an opportunity of introspection.
The challenge we are facing now no one was really prepared for. There were adequate warnings of the potential for a pandemic of some kind.
Yet, we tend to ignore warnings until they hit us in such a way that we cannot ignore.
The opportunity we have before us is an opportunity to exam ourselves and determine a new course of action. There is always room for improvement.
Changes don't come when someone tells us we need to change something. Changes come when we realize that something is not working and change is required.
As I have mentioned before, one of my favorite quotes, as it pertains to my work, is by Galileo. "You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him to find it within himself."
Recently, I had the chance to have another conversation with USA-Today Best-Seller author, Tommy Breedlove. I featured Tommy on my STRONG Men Podcast late last
year.
His recently published book, Legendary: A simple playbook for building and living a legendary life, and being remembered as a legend, is a book all men should read.
I believe deep down every man wants to do something great in his life. Whether that is to raise great kids, be a wonderful husband, build a successful business,
or find the next thing that helps a lot of people. The list is endless.
Perhaps, when it comes down to it, in the end, we want to know our life had meaning and purpose. Or, as Tommy would say, "being remembered as a legend."
If you want the playbook to living a legendary life, it's simple, get a copy of Tommy's new book, read it, and start applying it to your life.
It doesn't get any easier than that!
During this time, you have an opportunity to change. We can all improve some area of our life.
My advice. Choose one to two things that you would like to change.
Create a plan.
Works backwards from what you want the outcome to be. If you don't know where to start or what the steps may be, ask someone.
Understand you will have setbacks because you are in the learning and discovery phase. Accept this and move on.
Set realistic smaller goals to get you to your ultimate desired outcome. The keyword being realistic.
Give yourself credit for what you have completed, and never give up.
For now, check out the interview I had with Tommy as we discuss his new book and about what men could be doing to take advantage of this opportunity.
